Developing the scientific bases of methods of obtaining and applying industrially important lubricants, synthesizing physiologically active substances

The laboratory has functioned since 2006. From the first days of its foundation the laboratory was headed by Doctor of Chemical Science, Professor Sabir Mammadov. Since July of 2021 it has been headed by Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry Sevgili Mammadova.

In the laboratory there is implemented the scientific-research work in the field of obtaining plastic lubricants applied in tightening and lubricating oil and gas fittings, the ground-based technique, vacuum systems of the aviation mechanisms. Such scientific problems as developing lubricants under special condition through the experimental and theoretical way, determination of the relationship  between their structure, composition and functional properties, development of high-performance plastic lubricants of Solidol and Litol type for the ground-based technique by use of existing raw material, preparation of their technological regulations and creation of lubricants with high-quality and tribological properties by use of new base components, metal dusts, alkyd paints etc.are solved.

Determination of the principle of formation of joint liquid-crystal structure of vegetable oils with lithium and calcium cations is one of the main conditions for obtaining high quality plastic lubricants. The possibility of improving anti-oxidant and tribological  properties of the lubricants in the prepared compositions by use of different chemical transformation products of vegetable oils has been certified. Therefore, previous oxidation of the vegetable oil with unsaturated hydrocarbon composition subjected to quick oxidation, inclusion of different functional groups in their composition and influence of the obtained substances on the quality of the lubricants have been investigated. It has been established that the participation of soft metal dusts (Al, Cu, Zn) in the composition of the lubricant also gives neutralizing properties to it along with increasing its tribological properties.

It has been established that the alkyd paints used as non-traditional reagents make synergism with the compositions prepared in the laboratory and hence universal lubricants have been developed. This kind of plastic lubricants can be used as tightening-lubricating, carving-protecting and vacuum-lubricating lubricants.

For the first time there have been implemented wide investigations on obtaining plastic lubricants containing nano-sized metals and their oxides. For this purpose, at the last stage of obtaining lubricants there are included metal salts decomposing at high temperature by forming nano-sized metals and their oxides which are located in the crystal frame of the lubricants. The plastic lubricant containing nano sized copper and titan has been obtained for the first time. The x-ray structure has showed that there are nano particles located outside of the fluid-crystal frame of this lubricant and lipophilic organic compounds and mineral oil inside it. Therefore, dropping temperature of obtained lubricants is very higher than dropping temperature of the modern lubricants (198-2200C). The analysis shows that these lubricants have high thermal stability and working ability at 230-2700C.

The investigations on new methods of obtaining multifunctional organic compounds containing sulfamide group are implemented in the laboratory too. The investigations show that the presence of the synthesized compounds and their heterocyclic derivatives in the composition of lubricating oils and lubricants give them anticorrosive and tribological properties. On the other hand these substances are physiologically active. They are very effective against staphylococcus, typhus and penicillin strains. Taking into account both being the synthesized multifunctional substances high-performance additive and their physiological activity there have been worked out many obtaining methods.
