As a part of the Year of Heydar Aliyev, schoolchildren made an excursion to the Institute of Chemistry of Additives

Academician Ali Guliyev  Institute of Chemistry of Additives of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan announced an “Open Day” for secondary school pupils within the framework of the “Year of Heydar Aliyev”. In accordance with the Action Plan adopted for this purpose, on March 1, 2023, students of the 7th and 8th grades of M.Rakhim secondary school No 7 of the city of Baku made an excursion to the Institute of Chemistry of Additives.

First of all, the leadership of the institute and the guests honored the memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev with a minute of silence and laid flowers in front of the Heydar Aliyev Corner.

Welcoming the guests at a meeting with schoolchildren, Academician Vagif Farzaliyev, Director General of the Institute, said that 2023 was declared the Year of Heydar Aliyev in our country: “This is a vivid example of boundless respect for the memory of our immortal leader, historical figure Heydar Aliyev. We have also prepared an Action Plan for this year at the Institute. One of the activities envisaged in this plan is the organization of excursions to the institute for high school students located in the capital or regions to awaken interest in chemistry.”

He noted that the unity of science and education should be not only with universities, but also with secondary schools: “Therefore, research institutions, like historical museums, should open their doors to talented students and ensure their familiarity with physical and chemical processes.”

Noting that Azerbaijan was an oil country, V.Farzaliyev stressed that the development and production of additives (additives to petroleum products) in the former Soviet Union was carried out for the first time in our republic.

The Director General spoke about the history of the Institute of Chemistry of Additives, directions of scientific activity, fundamental research carried out at the Institute, achievements achieved, Academicians Ali Guliyev and Academician Izzat Orujova who worked at the Institute, and also about his scientific path, gave his advice and noted that such meetings could  play a big role in motivating schoolchildren to science.

Then the students’ questions were answered.

The students got acquainted with modern physical and chemical instruments and equipment in laboratories in the presentations of young scientists of the institute – PhD in Chemistry Sabiya Osmanova, Gunay Ismailova, Mansura Huseynova, Lala Aliyeva and Sevinj Talybli, and also watched entertaining and educational experiments.
