In 2014-2016 a grant project on the topic “Oil Spill Bioremediation of the Baku Bay Coastal Zone” was implemented at the Institute within the framework of the joint Program of Targeted Initiatives by the Ukrainian Science and Technology Center and ANAS.
Joint scientific research is conducted with the Ufa Oil Technical University of the Russian Federation in the field of biocides, the Institute of Chemical Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the field of antioxidants.
In October 2014, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed with Schulke & Mayr GmbH, Special Additives International, which provides joint research in the field of creating biologically active substances. According to the Memorandum, as a result of joint scientific research conducted in the field of biocidal additives, biocidal compositions have been developed and work is underway to use them.
In the same year, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the ICA and the Aachen Technical University of Germany. According to this Memorandum, there are conducted studies on biomarkers of Azerbaijani oils.
There are also joint research with the Hessen University in Germany in the field of study of the effect of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) on the waters of the Azerbaijani rivers.
Within the framework of international cooperation, the Institute continues scientific cooperation with four universities in Turkey. In 2015, a Memorandum of Cooperation providing the implementation of joint scientific projects with the Department of Chemistry of the University of Orta-Dogu was signed.
According to the decree of the Presidium of ANAS of 05.09.2014, the Doctor of Science degree student was sent to the Hessen University to receive a higher level of qualification in research.
Two Doctor of Science degree students of the Institute were on a scientific trip to the Technical University of Orta-Dogu and Hacettepe (June 2014), Istanbul Technical and Ataturk Universities (July 2015), PhD degree student at the Technical University of Orta -Dogu (2016) for further training.
Young scientists of the Institute conduct joint research with scientists from the Department of Pharmacology of Ataturk University and the University of Firenze di Studi Degli (Italy).
The synthetic part of the research is carried out at the ICA within the framework of the project – the winner of the third grant competition of young scientists and specialists conducted by the Science Development Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. So over the last year 50 new substances on the basis of cyclic thiocarbamide, pyrimidethione, sulfamide and carboxylate have been synthesized and sent to the Ataturk University in four stages.
The studies were started on the basis of an agreement reached during the short-term visit of the young scientists from the ICA to Ataturk University. The first results have been published in three articles in the high impact-factor journals of the UK “Journal of Biological and Medical Chemistry” and “Journal of Enzyme Inhibition and Medicinal Chemistry”, two articles are printing. One monograph was published in Germany.
In May, 2015 and 2016, In a row, young researchers Kamran Hajiyev and PhD degree student Sabiya Osmanova participated in a summer school on the topic: “Methods of Assessing the Impact of Agriculture on the Environment”, organized by Justus Liebig Giessen University of Germany (“DAAD Summer School). In the courses financed under the Exchange Program of Germany leading professors of scientific centers dealing with this topic or relevant research, gave lectures to participants. In the meantime, to apply theoretical knowledge in practice, participants practiced in different institutes. On completion of the course participants were given certificates.
On April 13-15, 2016, PhD student Khadija Mammadyarova was on a business trip to Minsk and participated in the exhibition of the best works on the results of the International Youth Project entitled “100 Ideas for the Union of Independent States”. Her project was awarded a diploma.
On June 27-July 01, 2016, PhD student of the Institute, a young specialist Sabiya Osmanova participated in the conference on organic chemistry “OrgChim-2016”, organized in St. Petersburg (Russian Federation) and made a presentation.
On July 18-21, 2016 PhD student Khadija Mammadyarova was on a business trip to Athens (Greece) and took part in the IV annual international conference on chemistry organized at the Institute of Education and Research of Athens.
On November 21 -28, 2016 a young specialist, junior researcher of the laboratory #10, PhD student Mansura Huseynova within the framework of the project (EIF/GAM-3-2014-6 (21) -24 / 08/4-M-17), winner of the 3rd Grant Competition of young scientists and specialists held by the Science Development Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was sent to the Department of Chemistry of this university to get best practices in connection with scientific research conducted at the University of Orta Dogu, which is a leading scientific center in the field of chemistry and chemical engineering, and its application in her work. During this time, the young specialist got acquainted with the modern equipment and the latest methods of organic synthesis in the laboratories of general, physical and organic chemistry of the Department of Chemistry.
On November 14-19, 2016 director of the Institute academician Vagif Farzaliev and deputy director Elman Zulfugarov participated in the 12th International Conference “Production and Market of Lubricating Oils-2016” organized by RPİ Moscow (Russian Federation). Academician Vagif Farzaliyev made presentation on the state of production of lubricating oils in Azerbaijan at the conference.
