Scientists test a fast coronavirus diagnosis system

Coronavirus continues to spread around the world. In this case  the methods of its diagnosis are especially in demand. In people with suspected infection, coronavirus can be diagnosed in just half a day using a cheap face mask.

University of Leicester is currently testing a mask that has special strips built in (cost about 2 pounds). They absorb drops from a person’s breathing, which may carry traces of a bacterial or viral infection. To date, the detection of coronavirus can take up to 48 hours. Masks with test strips allow you to make a diagnosis much faster.

Screening on real patients with coronavirus has not been conducted yet. But it is already known that these masks are able to detect tuberculosis with an accuracy of 90%. Scientists are sure: the system will work, because coronavirus also affects the lungs, as well as tuberculosis.
