The Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of the Institute of Chemistry of Additives of ANAS presented an annual report

At the Scientific Council of Academician A.Guliyev  Institute of Chemistry of Additives  of Azerbaijan  National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), a report on the results of scientific and social activities in 2020 by the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists was heard. Speaking at the event, the chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of the Institute, Ph.D. in Chemistry Sabiya Osmanova said that, despite the quarantine regime in the country due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Council continued its work in accordance with the plan for 2020. In order to encourage young scientists, doctoral students and dissertators at the Institute there were successfully held competition for young people “Academician Ali Guliyev Prize”, events dedicated to the 97th anniversary of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, the 75th anniversary of ANAS and the 55th anniversary of the ICA. According to the results of the competition, 1 young employee of the institute was awarded this prize. Also, in connection with the “Youth Day” on February 2, a meeting was held at the institute with the participation of young scientists and specialists – doctoral students, dissertators and masters.

The Chairman of the Council stressed that during the current period, young scientists of the Institute of Chemical Problems took part in a number of events: August 1,2020  –  online interactive seminar “Problems faced by young scientists during the pandemic, ways to solve them and the socio-political life of the country”, organized by the Department of Science and Education and the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of the Presidium of ANAS; August 4-6, 2020 – Conference “Coronavirus Pandemic: From Scientific Research to the Healthy Future”, organized jointly with the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences of ANAS, as well as the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. They also spoke at the online conferences of young researchers dedicated to the 97th anniversary of the national leader Heydar Aliyev at Baku State University, Baku Higher Oil School and Baku Engineering University. ICA scientists took an active part in the preparation of the II International Scientific Conference “Interdisciplinary approaches to solving modern problems of fundamental and applied sciences”, organized by the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of ANAS, 5 young specialists made reports and poster presentations and were awarded certificates.

Osmanova said that 27 fourth-year students of Baku State University in the specialty “Chemistry” had an internship at the Institute of Chemistry, they got acquainted with the principles of operation of devices and equipment in various laboratories, modern methods of physical and chemical analysis, closely followed some experiments. Students also heard reports at the seminar on the important results of scientific research carried out and obtained by the employees of the institute in priority areas in the field of fine organic synthesis and chemistry of additives.

According to her, students of the Mingachevir secondary school No. 16 Raya Hasanli and Sevil Askerli, who took part in the IX republican competition “Scientists of the Future” in the section “Medicine and Health”, were awarded a diploma for the project “Obtaining almond oil from bitter almonds” implemented at  Laboratory “Theoretical Foundations of Additive Synthesis and Mechanism of Action” of the ICA.

The chairman of the Council also noted that event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the January 20 tragedy, as well as a meeting dedicated to the 28th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide were organized and carried out by the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists in conjunction with the primary territorial organization of the New Azerbaijan Party, Free Trade Unions and the Council of Women.

Director of the Institute, academician V. Farzaliyev, Deputy Director for Research, Dr.Sc.Chem., Associate Professor A.Sujayev, Scientific Secretary, Ph.D.in Chemisty M. Safarova, heads of  the laboratories, Dr.Sc.Tech., Prof. H.Javadova, Dr.Sc.Chem., Prof. P.Mammadova, Ph.D.in Chemistry, Associate Professor E. Isakov in their speeches assessed the scientific and social activities of young people as satisfactory.

As a result, the report was accepted.
