On February 24, 2023, a commemorative event dedicated to the 31st anniversary of the “Khojaly genocide” was organized at the Institute of Chemistry of Additives of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan with the assistance of the leadership of the Institute, the Free Trade Union Organization, the Territorial Organization of the NAP, the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists and the Council of Women. The meeting began with a moment of silence in memory of the dead.
Academician Vagif Farzaliyev, Director General of the Institute, who opened the event with an introductory speech, stressed that the policy of genocide and ethnic cleansing, carried out by Armenians against us for centuries,was a criminal act that served their dream of creating a “Great Armenia”: “After their purposeful resettlement to Azerbaijani land we faced a number of problems: “The hated Armenians have committed crimes unprecedented in history, using the most brutal methods of violence against our people.”
According to the academician, on the night of February 25 to February 26, 1992, the armed forces of Armenia, with the participation of the 366th motorized rifle regiment of Russia, committed an unprecedented crime against ethnic Azerbaijanis: “As a result of the Khojaly genocide, 63 children, 106 women, 613 residents were killed in one night, 70 of which were elderly people. 1275 people were captured, including 68 women and 26 children, the fate of 150 people is still unknown.” He said that at present, under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr.Ilham Aliyev, the recognition of the Khojaly genocide in the world became one of the main directions of the foreign policy of our country.
Noting the Glorious Victory of the Azerbaijan Army in the 44-day Patriotic War, the economic growth, military potential and authority of our country in the international world, the comprehensive development of our country, the Director General said that those who sacrificed their lives as a result of Armenian vandalism were avenged.
A member of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of the Institute, Lala Aliyeva, made a report on the “Khojaly tragedy” that occurred on February 26, and showed a video she prepared.
A group of young employees of the institute visited the monument erected in Baku in memory of the Khojaly victims and laid flowers at it.
