On June 30, 2021, an international scientific seminar was held on the results of joint scientific research conducted by academician Ali Guliyev Institute of Chemistry of Additives of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and Ataturk University, Turkey. In his introductory speech, the director of the institute, academician Vagif Farzaliyev, said that since 2015, cooperation with leading scientific centers and universities located in different cities of Turkey has been established: «Because our colleagues from Ataturk University today are studying the physiological activity of about 200 substances, synthesized by the staff of the institute, and they have received very important scientific results. These results are published in the form of joint articles in the most prestigious scientific journals of the world».
V.Farzaliyev noted that the main purpose of the seminar is discussing the main results of the research and determining the prospects for future cooperation at the next stage. Giving brief information about Dr.Ilhami Gulchine, the head of the joint international research group from Turkey, V.Farzaliyev said that according to the total citations to his scientific work, he is one of 100 thousand best scientists of the world. He noted that medicine covers the study of antioxidant and inhibitory activity of isoenzymes in relation to the most common pathological processes.
Talking about the current state and future prospects of the international cooperation between the Institute of Chemistry of Additives and Ataturk University, Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs, Associate Professor Afsun Sujayev said that the University reached top position in world ranking. International cooperation with the Scientific Center led to a significant increase in the level of fundamental theoretical research not only at the Institute of Chemistry of Additives, but also in other academic research centers and universities. By the present time, as a result of cooperation with this university, about 30 joint articles from Azerbaijan have been archived in prestigious scientific databases all over the world and more than 1000 citations have been made to them.
He stressed that this cooperation didn’t fully reflect the existing potential of Azerbaijan in this area, and noted that new areas for future cooperation had been identified and additional research would be carried out in these areas, talented young people would be attracted to internships at the scientific center.
Professor of Natural Sciences, Head of the Department of Natural Sciences, Head of the Department of Biology of the Ataturk University Dr. Ilhami Gulchine delivered the report “Comparative effect of inhibitors of a new generation, suppressing metabolic enzymes associated with some global diseases”. In his speech, he spoke about the main results of studying the antioxidant, metabolic and other biological activity of inhibitors synthesized at the Institute of Chemistry of Additives and other scientific centers in order to weaken and completely prevent a pathological condition caused by diseases such as malignant tumor resulting from a violation of enzyme-isoenzyme activity at the cellular level, Alzheimer’s disease, glaucoma, diabetes, hypertension etc.
As a result, it was decided to expand joint relations in this direction.
