In connection with the announcement of 2024 as the Green World Solidarity Year in the Republic of Azerbaijan, an event dedicated to the awarding of the winners was held at Academician Ali Guliyev Institute of Chemistry of Additives of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The Director General of the Institute, Academician Vagif Farzaliyev made an opening speech and noted that this competition differed from the previous ones: “Thus, scientific reports of young scientists and specialists are devoted to the results of their research in various areas, such as environmental improvement and problem solving, in particular, cleaning up territories from oil pollution, regeneration of waste oils, processing acid resins and other areas of the institute’s laboratories. This can be considered the contribution of the scientific institution and its scientists to the Green World Solidarity Year.”
The academician spoke about the tasks facing young scientists and specialists in the context of global challenges of the modern world, and noted that young people should now become the driving force of the scientific movement. The purpose of such competitions is to motivate them to these processes.
The executive director of the institute, chairman of the competition committee, professor Afsun Sujaev gave information about both competitions and said that the criteria for selecting the winners were the relevance of the topic presented by the candidates, the scientific nature and practicality of the project, the results obtained, the level of answers to questions, the scientific works published by them on this topic, and so on. He emphasized that when choosing the winners of the “Academician Ali Guliyev Prize” and “Best Scientific Report” competitions, the expert assessment was carried out transparently. Thus, by the decision of the Expert Commission, junior research fellow of the institute Nargiz Majdi was awarded the “Academician Ali Guliyev Prize”, postgraduate student Baim Ibrahimova, Shafa Kazimzadeh and junior research fellow Samir Jafarov were awarded second place for the “Best Scientific Report”, for their scientific achievements last year, Gasimova Gulshan, Vakhidzadeh Leyla and Isakov Mir Ali were awarded third place and motivational awards. The winners were awarded diplomas, flowers and cash prizes.
