Fourth-year students of the Faculty of Chemical Technology of the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) with a specialty in “Chemical Engineer” began practical training in the relevant laboratories of academician A.Guliyev Institute of Chemistry of Additives (ICA) of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Azerbaijan Republic. In connection with this on February 19, 2024, a meeting with students took place in the assembly hall of the institute.
At the meeting, the executive director of the institute, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor Afsun Sujayev informed the students about the history of the institute, existing laboratories, areas of activity, world-famous scientists, important scientific achievements, applied works that played a role in the economic life of the country and increasing defense power.
He informed the students about the laboratories and said that during the internship they would get acquainted with the principles of operation of instruments and equipment, modern methods of physical and chemical analysis in the laboratories of the institute, will take direct part in conducting some experiments, and they would be able to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge in real working conditions. This would allow them to experimentally consolidate their acquired theoretical knowledge and skills.
A.Sujayev said that recently a memorandum of cooperation was signed between ASOIU and the Institute of Chemistry of Additives; the document reflects all issues from joint scientific research at the international level to internships for students and graduate students, and this is a clear example of making an important practical decision, a step towards integration of science and education.
At the same time, he noted that over the past 3 years, in order to increase the interest of students who completed internships at the institute, three students, distinguished by their knowledge, skills and behavior, were awarded diplomas. This year this tradition will continue.
The students were then divided into groups and assigned to separate laboratories. For information, we note that the practical training of 40 students will continue until May 24, 2024.
