On June 22, 2023, a wide meeting of the Academic Council was held at the Institute of Chemistry of Additives of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
First of all, the head of Cutting Fluid Compositions laboratory of the Institute, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor Mammadova Parvin Shamkhal gizi was awarded the Certificate of Honor of the Organization of Free Trade Unions in connection with her 80th anniversary.
Then, informing about the issues on the agenda, the Director General of the Institute, Academician Vagif Farzaliyev, said that the Academic Council is going tol hear a brief report on the activities of the Institute’s employees for 6 months of 2023 and discuss issues of research activities of doctoral students and dissertators for the preparation of Doctors of Philosophy and Sciences.
V. Farzaliyev noted that one of the main tasks of research institutions is the training of highly qualified personnel. The main purpose of organizing the discussion is to analyze and solve the problems of doctoral students and dissertators applying for the scientific degree of Doctor of Science and Doctor of Philosophy. “All these discussions and analyzes are carried out to ensure that a doctoral student or dissertator defending the dissertation has a сonsiderable research work that can contribute to science, and that the level of knowledge of the applicant is worthy of obtaining an appropriate scientific degree or scientific title,” the academician said.
Executive Director of the Institute, Doctor of Chemistry, Assoc.Prof. Afsun Sujayev presented a brief report on the main results of the six-month activities of the Institute’s employees in 2023. He stressed that during the reporting period, great importance was attached to the organization and management of scientific activities based on new foundation, the mobilization of the country’s intellectual resources, the further development of priority areas in the activities of the ICA, the use of advanced technologies, and cooperation with leading international and local scientific and educational institutions.
After analyzing the publication activity of the institute for 6 months of 2023 according to scientometric criteria, A.Sujayev reported that on the basis of analysis profiles of more than 20 thousand scientists and specialists of operating universities and research institutes in the country at the international level and about 150,000 scientific publications according to the H-index (H-index), calculated on the basis of the Azerbaijan National H-index Ranking-2023, Web of Science, Scopus and Google Scholar indicators the Institute of Chemistry of Additives takes 18th place in the ranking list with the National H-index of 17 (the H-index of the Institute is 22 in “Web of Science” and “Google Scholar” and 21 in “Scopus”) among 83 scientific organizations and universities in the ranking list of leading scientific organizations in Azerbaijan.
The Executive Director spoke about the steps taken to further improve the efficiency of scientific activities of the Institute of Chemistry of Additives, coordinate fundamental and applied research conducted in other scientific institutions and universities of the country, ensure the application of their results, as well as the proper use of the existing human resources of the Institute.
A.Sujayev emphasized the importance of improving the quality of the system for assessing the activities of scientists, undergraduates and doctoral students working in this research institution, their involvement in joint international research, and the creation of a scientometric page and profile of each employee, the publication of important scientific results obtained in the course of research in prestigious journals, considered it appropriate in terms of further enhancing the prestige of the scientific institution.
Later, an exchange of views took place with each doctoral student and dissertation student separately.
