In accordance with the plan of events related to the “Green World Solidarity Year”, seminars on environmental education continue at Academician Ali Guliyev Institute of Chemistry of Additives of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. On October 15, 2024, the next seminar on the topic “Research work in the direction of solving environmental problems at the Institute of Chemistry of Additives” was held.
Scientific Secretary of the Institute, Associate Professor Mehpara Safarova informed about the program of the seminar and said that priority has always been given to scientific activities aimed at solving environmental problems, in this regard, research was carried out in different directions in separate laboratories and important fundamental and applied results were obtained. According to her, the upcoming seminars on environmental education are also a contribution to the COP29 conference, which will be held in our country in November this year.
Then, a leading researcher at the Institute’s Multifunctional Polymer Compounds Laboratory, PhD, Associate Professor Elnara Hasanova made an extensive report on the topic.
There was provided information on the creation of the first anti-smoke additive, which is one of the scientific projects by which the Institute’s scientists have made a great contribution to the environmental safety of our country, the creation of a technology for the regeneration of used motor oils and lubricating compositions for various purposes based on the regeneration product, the development of a rational phytoremediation technology that ensures the combined effect of plants and destructive microorganisms on oil-contaminated soils, taking into account the ecological and climatic conditions of Azerbaijan.
E.Hasanova noted that one of the latest successful applied scientific works by the Institute’s scientists aimed at solving environmental problems is related to the creation of a processing process and the use of the processing product of “acid tar”, which has accumulated in thousands of tons in the territory of Balakhani and creates environmental problems.
