In accordance with the plan of events related to COP29 and Green World Solidarity Year, another educational seminar was held at Academician Ali Guliyev Institute of Chemistry of Additives (ICA) of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The executive director of the institute, professor Afsun Sujayev made a report on “New approaches to obtaining and studying antioxidants against some pathological processes of living organisms based on plant extracts”. He noted that ICA scientists pay great attention to the study of the physiological activity of potential medicinal substances obtained from plant extracts within the framework of joint international research. He emphasized that medicinal substances obtained from extracts of many plants included in the flora of Azerbaijan were studied in detail, important results were obtained and published in a prestigious foreign journal and especially attracted the attention of scientists around the world.
A. Sujayev stated that there were more medicinal plants related to the flora of the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions. He noted that scientific research in this area would be expanded in the near future and even issues of cooperation with the Karabakh University could be considered.
The scientific secretary of the institute, PhD in chemistry Mehpara Safarova, leading research fellows, PhD in chemistry Malahat Abbasova and Khuraman Efendiyeva expressed their opinions and suggestions on the topic.
