On September 26, 2023, the event on the topic “With respect and honor, we commemorate the martyrs of the Patriotic war!”, devoted to “September 27 – Memorial Day” was held at Academician Ali Guliyev Institute of Chemistry of Additives of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan with the participation of the First Territorial Organization of the Party of New Azerbaijan (PWA), the Organization of Free Trade Unions and the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists.
Speaking at the event, which began with a minute’s silence and the performance of the National Anthem in memory of our heroes who died heroically in the Patriotic War, the executive director, Associate Professor Afsun Sujayev said that September 27 would never be erased from the memory of our people, entered into our modern history as a heroic and glorious day: “Today we honor the memory of our martyrs and feel a sense of victory in the 44-day war. Because it was on this day that we began the liberation of our lands, which were under occupation for many years, and for 44 days we fulfilled this honorable mission at the cost of the lives and blood of our heroic sons, and we did not leave it for future generations”.
Sujayev also noted that the 30-year longing of the Azerbaijani people for Karabakh ended on September 27, 2020: “It was the day when our historic victory began. In this Patriotic War, close relatives of the employees of our institute voluntarily went to war and returned as veterans. They are currently participating in today’s event”.
At the event, the chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of the ICA, Gunay Ismailova, said: “We honor the memory of the martyrs of the Patriotic War with respect and honor!”and gave a report on this topic.
Then the veterans of Karabakh who took part in the event – the battalion commander who led the liberation of the Fizulin district during the 44-day Patriotic War, Major Elchin Allahverdiev, awarded by Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev with the “RESHADAT” order and Rufat Salmanov, awarded with medals for Jebrail, Khojavend and Kelbajar, shared their impressions ofwars, told about the military path they passed, solidarity and unity of the people, and great attention and care of the state and the people.
The Chairman of the Women’s Council of the ICA, Professor Hagigat Javadova and the leading researcher of the institute, Associate Professor Nusrat Aliyev made a speech and emphasized the importance of “September 27 – Remembrance Day” and noted that this significant calendar day is a sign of great respect for the memory of our martyrs.The speakers noted that the Institute of Chemistry of Additives rendered a special service in providing our army with strategic production during the First Karabakh War.
At the end, veterans were presented gifts from the Institute’s Free Trade Unions.
