On December 9, 2025, an educational seminar on the topic “Synthetic Base Oils, Esters, and Their Application in Aviation” was held at acad.Ali Guliyev Institute of Chemistry of Additives of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
In her opening remarks, Mehpara Safarova, Scientific Secretary of the Institute Associate Professor, PhD in Chemistry, noted the importance of these seminars for familiarizing the institute’s research staff, doctoral students, master’s students, and interns with the results of research conducted in its laboratories on relevant topics.
Then, Associate Professor Ali Gadirov, Lead Researcher of the Laboratory of Multifunctional Organic Compounds Based on Alkylphenols, presented a comprehensive presentation on “Synthetic Base Oils, Esters, and Their Application in Aviation.”
He provided clear information on the creation of high-temperature oxidation inhibitors for synthetic oils, the development of methods for synthesizing high-temperature inhibitors containing nitrogen, sulfur, boron, silicon atoms, and various functional groups in the molecule to achieve this goal, as well as studying their mechanism of action and the preparation of high-temperature (200-240 ºC) lubricating compositions for gas turbine engines based on synthetic ester oils using synthesized compounds and commercial additives. He clearly described the work being carried out worldwide and in Azerbaijan, including in the laboratory where he worked, the important scientific results obtained, and the renowned scientists in this field, and answered numerous questions.
