On May 18, 2023, an educational seminar on the topic “History and prospects for the development of lubricants” was held at academician Ali Guliyev Institute of Chemistry of Additives of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Executive Director, Doctor of Chemistry Afsun Sujaнev, in his opening speech said that such seminars were of great importance in terms of familiarizing scientists, doctoral students, undergraduates and students doing practice at the institute with the results of research conducted in laboratories on topical topics. According to him, each laboratory should provide students who received practical skills in it with extensive information about famous Azerbaijani scientists who conducted scientific research in this area, so that the younger youth could get acquainted with outstanding scientists.
Then, the Head of the Lubricating Compositions Laboratory, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Hagigat Javadova made a wide report on the topic “History and Prospects for the Development of Lubricating Oils”. She gave extensive information about the work of the laboratory since 1965, when the Institute of Chemistry of Additives was established, the leadership of the laboratory by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan Izzet Orujova, her life and work, the development of base oils of mineral, synthetic and semi-synthetic origin for gasoline and diesel internal combustion engines for various purposes, including the creation of a group of lubricating oils B, Г, Г1, Г2, ВБ, ГБ and ДМ on the base of distillates obtained from Azerbaijani oils, which are not inferior to foreign analogues in terms of performance properties and meet modern requirements.
She informed the workshop participants about the development of new lubricant compositions based on high base number and low ash additives containing P, S, N, Ca, Zn, B, etc. elements and functional groups in connection with the tightening of requirements for the performance properties of lubricants used in modern diesel engines and the recommendation to use the created additive compositions, taking into account the high efficiency of new alkyl phenolates containing various heteroatoms ИХП-114, ИХП-130, ИХП-105, AKI- 140, AKI-150, AKI-219 and others in the development of modern lubricating oils.
H.Javadova also noted that one of the main directions of research work carried out in the laboratory headed by her is the creation of a technology for the regeneration of used samples of lubricating oils used in various types of equipment and the continuation of scientific research on the creation of various lubricant compositions based on regenerated oils.
In the end, she noted that all manufactured motor oils and lubricant compositions recommended for use are patented and 2 monographs on this topic had been published over the past year.
Regarding the report, the scientific secretary of Ph.D. Mehpara Safarova, head of the laboratory, Dr.Chem.Sci. Afayat Mammadova, leading scientists – Ph.D., Assoc.Prof. Nusrat Aliyev and Yulduz Ramazanova expressed their opinions and suggestions.
