The leadership of Academician A. Guliyev Institute of Chemistry of Additives of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan held a meeting with members of the “Small Academy”, operating in secondary school No. 7 named after M.Rahim.

Speaking at an event dedicated to the presentation of the work done by the chemistry circle of the “Small Academy” over the past year in accordance with the month of chemistry announced at the school as part of the “Year of Heydar Aliyev”, the principal of the school, Konul Tahmezova, said that the main goal of the activities of the “Small Academy” is regulation of ongoing work with gifted children at school, assistance in creating an effective mechanism of action in this area, ensuring the systematic implementation of activities related to the formation of the research ability of students: “This activity has led to systematic work in the direction of identifying talented students who are prone to scientific search in junior age groups, determining their professional priorities in the future, taking into account their creative potentials, stimulating their interest in scientific creativity, developing their research abilities and shaping their scientific worldview.

K.Tahmazova noted that among the activities of the Small Academy school, the visits of researchers to specialized research laboratories of universities and research institutes, as well as cooperation with institutions, famous scientists and specialists supporting talented students, are of particular importance: “From this point of view a recent excursion of a group of students to the Institute of Chemistry of Additives aroused great interest. The fact that the students got acquainted with the material and technical base of the laboratories and observed many experiments on the spot increased their interest in chemistry and increased the number of our talented students who signed up for the chemistry circle.” She expressed confidence that the personal meeting of the institute’s leadership with members of the circle at the school would be very significant. As Academician Vagif Farzaliyev, Director General  of the Institute of Chemistry of Additives, noted in his speech, such meetings and excursions of students in the institute’s laboratories are an important step towards the integration of science and education not only in universities, but also in schools: “Given that real talents in schools and it is necessary to reveal them at a young age, then as a research institution we are also interested in the fact that talented people come to science in precisely such ways, so that our followers grow and replace us in the future.”
