Academician Ali Guliyev Institute of Chemistry of Additives of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan announced “Open Doors” for secondary school students within the framework of the “Year of Heydar Aliyev”. Therefore, Baku schoolchildren regularly go on excursions to the institute.
On December 28, 2023, high school students from Sabunchu district No192 went on an excursion to the Institute of Chemistry of Additives.
The executive director of the institute, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor Afsun Sujayev, who welcomed the guests at the meeting with schoolchildren, noted that excursions to research institutions would play a big role in schoolchildren’s choice of future specialties and encourage them to study science. From this point of view, every scientific institution should could open its doors to talented students and provide them with a visual introduction to physical and chemical processes.
A.Sujayev spoke about the history of the Institute of Chemistry of Additives, directions of scientific activity, fundamental research conducted at the institute, achievements, outstanding chemist scientists of Azerbaijan who worked at the institute and passed away – academician Ali Guliyev and academician Izzat Orujeva and interesting experiments conducted in laboratories of the institute for schoolchildren and answered their questions.
Next, the schoolchildren made a presentation about Izzat khanum Orujeva, a famous scientist of Azerbaijan and the creator of the first female character in cinema.

Then they visited the laboratories “Physiologically active organic compounds”, “Analysis and physicochemical study of organic compounds and compositions”, “Lubricating compositions”, “Protective organic compounds”, “Polymer compounds with various functions” and other laboratories, where they got acquainted with modern principles of operation of physical and chemical instruments and carefully followed some experiments.
