An international seminar dedicated to COP29 and the Green World Solidarity Year was held at Academician Ali Guliyev Institute of Chemistry of Additives of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Scientists, doctoral students, dissertators and master’s students from various universities and research institutes joined the prestigious event organized on the ZOOM platform.

The Director General of the Institute, Academician Vagif Farzaliyev, who opened the event with an opening speech, informed about the importance of the COP29 event, which would be held on November 11-22, and about the scientific research carried out within the framework of Green World Solidarity Year in the scientific institution he headed. He stressed that regular seminars were organized to discuss scientific works aimed at solving global environmental problems, adding that in this seminar dedicated to discussing the results of joint research at the international level conducted in the field of plant extracts we could listen to leading scientist of the Biotechnology Department of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Bartin University Parham Taslimi. Giving information about Parham Taslimi, he noted that despite the fact that he was 37 years old, he was a world-famous scientist in the field of bioorganic chemistry, biochemistry and enzyme kinetics: “Currently, he works as an Associate Professor at the Department of Biotechnology, Department of Medical Biotechnology, Faculty of Life Sciences, Bartin University. He is the author of about 300 scientific papers. His articles published in prestigious foreign journals have been cited by world scientists 14 thousand times. The Hirsch index is 71. The most important thing is that the name of Parham Taslimi has been on the list of the most influential scientists in the world for 5 years in a row. According to the ranking of the world-famous Stanford University, Parham Taslimi ranks third in Turkey in the field of molecular biology and genetics”.

Executive Director, PhD, Professor Afsun Sujayev provided information on the current state of international scientific cooperation between the Institute of Chemistry of Additives and Bartin University of Turkey and further prospective plans. According to him, the results of joint international research were published in the form of 50 articles in prestigious journals.

A.Sujayev said that in the future, it was planned to conduct in-depth scientific research on plant extracts with medicinal potential, which were part of the rich flora of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur, with the aforementioned universities.

Then, Associate Professor of the Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Bartin University, Dr.Parham Taslimi made an extensive presentation on the topic of “Some In Vitro Plant Studies”. He stated that within the framework of joint international research, a large place was given to antioxidant and enzyme-isoenzyme studies of potential medicinal substances obtained from plant extracts.

In this direction, he emphasized that medicinal substances obtained from extracts of many plants found in the natural cover of different regions of Turkey were studied in detail, important results were obtained and they were published in a prestigious foreign journal and attracted the attention of world scientists.

P.Taslimi gave detailed information on the technologies of various measurements related to functional properties, starting with the preparation of plant extracts, and showed visual materials taking into account the participation of students studying in the master’s and doctoral programs.

The Turkish scientist once again noted that he was closely cooperating with research groups from Azerbaijan in this area and that it was advisable to expand these studies in the future.

A broad discussion took place on this topic, and many questions were answered.

Finally, as a token of gratitude for the emphasis on the importance of international scientific cooperation with the Institute of Chemistry of Additives, Academician Vagif Farzaliyev presented a letter of thanks to the leading researcher of the Department of Biotechnology of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Bartin University, Assoc. Prof. Parham Taslimi.
