On October 9, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences decided to award the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in memory of Alfred Nobel. Thus, the 2023 Nobel Prize in Economics was awarded to Claudia Goldin of Harvard University “for improving our understanding of the role of women in the labor market.”
It should be noted that the award was established in 1968 by the bank’s “perpetual” fund on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the Swedish Central Bank (Sveriges Riksbank).
