There is enough public discussion, but there is little science in it – Emin Amrullayev

“We must separate science from non-science. What do we mean by science? This is a very important question.”

As reported by Modern.az, this was stated by the Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev during his speech at the Forum of Azerbaijani Scientists Living Abroad, which took place in Baku a few days ago.

E.Amrullayev said: “When we listen to the discussions in the ministry, we see that there is quite a lot of public discussion, but there is little science in it. The level of science is determined by the number of articles, citations that can be measured in a scientific format. If there is this, then, in my opinion, there is science, if there is not that, there are many noisy ideas, then there is only noise, there is no science. On the way from noise to science, we need examples. Because in many cases we see the names of people who are engaged in real science, we do not see them on social networks and other platforms. In conversations with scientists, I sometimes ask why you are not active on social networks, they say that there is no time for this, because we are busy with research and it would be better if we spent time on research.”
