In accordance with the agreements reached during the recent visit to our country by the delegation of the Tatarstan company “Tatneft”, a video conference was held on July 11, 2023. The main goal of the organization of the event, in which specialists from “TANECO” OJSC and “VNIIUS” JSC  took part, was to discuss possible issues of cooperation between this company and Academician Ali Guliyev Institute of Chemistry of Additives of the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan Republic in the field of the organization of the production of additives to lubricating oils.

Speaking at the meeting, the head of the Oil and Gas Processing Department of “Tatneft”, the director general of “TANECO” OJSC Ilshat Salakhov first noted that the company “Tatneft”, specializing in oil and gas processing, production of petrochemical products, and also providing design, supply and construction services for oil, gas and oil and gas projects, located in the city of Almetyevsk of the Republic of Tatarstan, is one of the five largest oil companies of the Russian Federation. He also noted that, since Azerbaijan was historically the homeland of oil production, its industrial processing, production of lubricants, he knew that the development and production of additives in the former Union was first carried out in our republic by the Institute of Chemistry of Additives.

I.Salakhov noted that the Institute of Chemistry of  Additives was the only scientific center that continued its activity in the field of chemistry of additives in the territory of the former USSR and the CIS on a scientific basis, therefore the company represented by him showed great interest in scientific and innovative cooperation in the organization of procurement and production of additives to lubricants and expressed confidence in the possibility of mutual cooperation.

Academician Vagif Farzaliyev, director general of the Institute of Chemistry of Additives, speaking at a video conference, said that since Azerbaijan was historically the homeland of oil production, its industrial processing, production of fuel and lubricants, development and production of additives in the former USSR was first held in Baku.

According to the academician, all additives and lubricants produced in the former USSR, including 20% of special-purpose oils, were produced by the Institute of Chemistry of Additives. The academician emphasized that as a result of the special attention and care paid by our state to science after the collapse of the former Soviet Union, the Institute of Chemistry of Additives still maintaind its former reputation today: “Imagine that the Institute of Chemistry of Additives was one of the three scientific centers of the Soviet Union in the field of chemistry of additives. Unfortunately, when the union republics became independent, the other 2 scientific centers of the USSR were abolished. But it is gratifying that, unlike them, the Institute of Chemistry of Additives managed to preserve its existence and today it is the only specialized scientific institution that continues its activities on a scientific basis”.

В.Farzaliyev noted that the significance of such a large oil and gas processing company as “Tatneft” for cooperation with the Institute of Chemistry of Additives was a natural consequence of trust and confidence both in the past and in the present in great scientific potential of this scientific center.

At the meeting, the parties exchanged opinions on concrete ways of cooperation in priority areas, existing problems and their joint solutions, and also a decision was made on the importance of preparing a road map of joint cooperation in the near future.
