The XII Republican Competition “Scientists of Tomorrow” was held

On February 13, the opening ceremony of the XII Republican Competition “Scientists of Tomorrow” organized by the Ministry of Science and Education, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Institute of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan (IERA), the Heydar Aliyev Center, the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) and ” BP Azerbaijan.

The ceremony began with the performance of the National Anthem.

IERA Director Rufat Azizov, who made an opening speech, brought to the attention of the participants of the event a report on the statistical indicators of the competition. Rufat Azizov spoke about registered, accepted and evaluated projects in 8 current areas, as well as about the indicators of these projects in cities and regions. It was reported that 163 out of 486 projects registered for the competition received the right to participate in the exhibition.

The director of IERA noted that the presented projects were the beginning of successful work in the future life of students.

Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullaev noted in his speech that there was a growing interest in engineering, mathematics, physics and informatics among students. Emin Amrullaev stressed that STEAM-oriented projects prevailed in the competition. At the end of his speech, the minister wished success to the students participating in the competition.

President of ANAS Isa Habibbeyli spoke at the event and the importance of this competition. Isa Habibbeyli said that necessary measures were being taken at ANAS for the development of young scientists and specialists, and at the same time, the above-mentioned institution wais actively engaged in expanding the competition and achieving great success.

Vice President for Communications and External Relations in the Caspian region of BP Azerbaijan Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli congratulated the contestants and wished them further success.

In turn, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Indira Hajiyeva spoke about the exceptional role of the competition organized for young scientists in their future life.

Later, the guests got acquainted with the exhibition. It should be noted that the research projects of students in 8 areas (mathematics, physics and astronomy, chemistry, biology, medicine and health, ecology and environmental management, engineering, computer science) will be evaluated at the competition within 3 days, schoolchildren selected among the winners will represent our country at an exhibition held in the United States.

The purpose of the competition is to identify talented students with research and creative potential, develop their various skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, time management, oratory and communication, as well as to expand links between higher education institutions and scientific organizations. It also aims to allow students to interact with peers with similar interests.
