Raytheon has created a system for the U.S. Air Force that can destroy enemy drones in seconds with laser weapons.
The first testing of the Antidron system took place in March 2018. Then with the help of the system several dozen drones were shot down. The US Air Force paid $ 2 million for a technology demonstration. After successful tests, the laser system was put on alert. The plans of the US military are to conduct additional field tests in combat zones outside the United States.
The new weapon consists of a Raytheon laser and a multispectral targeting system, which is designed to track and identify unmanned objects on a “friend or foe” basis. After the intruder is detected, Antidron makes several laser shots, thus shooting down the drone in a matter of seconds, 4PDA reports.
