4th year students of Baku State University (BSU) in the specialty “Chemistry” will undergo a 3-month internship in the corresponding laboratories of the Institute of Chemistry of Additives of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. On February 21, 2022 a meeting with interns took place in the assembly hall of the institute.

Speaking at the meeting the Director General of the Institute, Academician Vagif Farzaliyev said that the scientific institution headed by him closely cooperated with the existing higher educational institutions of the country, including BSU, in the form of inquiries. Thus, in the order of mutual exchange experience on the basis of joint leadership there were trained undergraduates, and doctoral students, and undergraduate students were provided with internships. The Director General spoke in detail about the history of ICA, its activities, important achievements, international cooperation and the training of highly qualified personnel.

The academician said that there was a basic department at the institute “Additives, lubricants, oil and cutting fluids” of the Department of Petrochemistry and Chemical Technology of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Baku State University (BSU).

Speaking at the meeting, the head of the Department of Petrochemistry and Chemical Technology of BSU, Professor Ibrahim Mammadov noted that there was  a very satisfactory  level of cooperation between the Faculty of Chemistry of BSU and ICA, many employees of the Institute were involved in the process. He noted the need to make a number of innovations in the organization of future promising activities of the basic department, the educational process, internships for students in the upcoming academic years. I.Mamedov noted that this year the internship was attended by 51 undergraduate students in 2 groups on the specialties “Chemistry” and “Chemical Engineering”. They have an internship scheduled for 25.05.2022.

Executive Director of the Institute of Chemistry of Additives Associate Professor Afsun Sujayev noted that this year in connection with the pandemic “Covid19” in our country, including the requirements of the quarantine regime, applied at the institute, students from separate departments -chemical analysis, would get acquainted with modern physico-chemical analysisv methods, closely followed by some experiments. Students also would listen to seminar reports on the important results of scientific research conducted and received by the staff of the Institute on priority areas in the field of fine organic synthesis and chemistry of additives. He noted that 3 best students, distinguished by hard work and scientific knowledge during the internship would be selected and rewarded with letters of appreciation and the administration of the university would be formally informed.
