Today, the territorial organization of the New Azerbaijan Party, trade unions and the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of the Institute of Chemistry of Additives of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences jointly organized an event on the theme: “From salvation to progress, from progress to victory”, dedicated to the 99th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
Speaking at the event, the director general of the institute, academician Vagif Farzaliyev said that the Great Leader has historically been the savior of Azerbaijan: “He played a big role in saving our country from great difficulties both during the first leadership of our republic and when returning to power in the years of independence. The reason was his foresight, determination, perseverance and love for the motherland”.
V. Farzaliyev stressed that the national leader, who came to power in 1993 at the insistence of the people, prevented the collapse of our country: “The country was in a state of actual collapse. There was no army, the economy was destroyed, most of the territories were occupied. But H.Aliyev did not lose faith in the future. Fragments from his speeches are often shown on television. Look how he hopes that in the future all the occupied territories will be liberated, the economy will revive, we will have a strong army and Azerbaijan will be recognized in the world”.
Emphasizing that he paid great attention to our academic science, V.Farzaliyev noted that if ANAS operates today, then we owe it to the national leader: “As soon as the national leader came to power for the second time, he eliminated this threat. If you remember, in 1993 he held his first meeting with academicians in the building of ANAS.”
V.Farzaliyev noted that with the support of the Great Leader, Azerbaijani scientists had the opportunity to work abroad, including as experts in international organizations: “The leadership of the USSR usually discriminated between the union republics on such issues and nominated specialists from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. However, at that time Heydar Aliyev became the first person who asked Moscow the question why only the above-mentioned republics participate in the activities of the international organizations, while Azerbaijan, which has a high scientific potential, should not participate? As a brilliant and wise leader, Heydar Aliyev knew perfectly well that Azerbaijan is a rich oil and gas country, therefore it is impossible to create a strong, competitive republic without developing its oil and gas production, oil and gas processing, petrochemistry and chemical industry.”
According to the academician, in accordance with the recommendations of the national leader, many results of the research work carried out in the petrochemical research institutes of ANAS, including the Institute of Chemistry of Additives, were applied on an industrial scale and contributed to the rapid development of the country’s economy and created conditions for production.
Then Afsun Sujayev, member of the NAP Board, Executive Director of the Institute, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor, made a report on the topic “The Role of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the Chemical Industry of Azerbaijan”. He noted that the role and merits of national leader Heydar Aliyev in the development of the chemical industry of our country, as well as in all areas, and in the recognition of Azerbaijan as a country of petrochemical and chemical industries are invaluable.
He noted that under the motto of chemicalization, chemical plants were built and put into operation in all the Union republics. However, the leadership of the USSR had a different – non-native attitude towards Azerbaijan. At that time, the factories were directly subordinated to the union ministries in order to prevent the republic from seriously interfering in the production activities of chemical enterprises. In fact, since the chemical industry of the republic and its development were subordinated to the interests of the entire union, the decisions made were often completely contrary to the interests of Azerbaijan. According to A. Sujaev, after the genius Heydar Aliyev came to power, thanks to his determination and will, a major turning point began in the restoration and modernization of the chemical industry in Azerbaijan, he managed to make special government decisions in the governing bodies of that time for the development of capital reconstruction in the oil and petrochemical industry.
Gunay Ismailova, Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of the Institute, also spoke at the event with a report “From Salvation to Progress, from Progress to Victory”.
