The scientific community of Azerbaijan has suffered a heavy loss. A chemist, senior researcher at Academician A.Guliyev Institute of Chemistry of Additives of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Chemical Sciences Sabira Abdulali gizi Sardarova has died.

Sabira Sardarova was born on January 1, 1940, in Baku in an intelligent family. After receiving secondary education in Baku schools No.134 and No.6 in 1957 she was admitted to the Faculty of Chemistry of the Azerbaijan State University (now BSU). After graduating with honors from the Azerbaijan State University in 1962 she entered the postgraduate course at the Department of Organic Chemistry. After graduating from high school in 1965, at the invitation of her supervisor, she was hired as an engineer at Academician A.M.Guliyev Institute of Chemistry of Additives.

In 1967 she defended her thesis on “Thiotetralols (synthesis, properties, and research)” and received her Ph.D.

In 1994 she defended her doctoral dissertation on “Aminomethylated hydroxy acetophenone (synthesis, properties, and research)” and received her doctorate in chemical sciences.

In 1967-2010 Sabira Sardarova worked as a junior, senior, and leading researcher at the Institute of Chemistry of Additives of ANAS, and from 2010 until the last day – as a senior researcher.

Sabira Sardarova was a highly qualified specialist in the field of organic chemistry. Her scientific activity was directly related to the laboratory “Lubricants and Additives”, under the leadership of Academician A.M.Guliyev and the Institute of Chemistry of Additives of ANAS, organized on its basis in 1965.

The main direction of Sardarova’s scientific activity was the development of highly effective additives, stabilizers, and biocides for lubricants, polymers, and cutting fluids.
She carried out systematic research in the field of synthesis of new substances, studying the influence of their composition and structure on functional efficiency. The use of stabilizers and biocides, created under her leadership and with direct participation, in industry and medicine was recommended.

Sardarova is the author of about 200 scientific works, including 23 copyright certificates and patents. About 30 of her works were published abroad. She spoke at international and republican conferences many times.

She also contributed to the training of highly qualified personnel in the country. Under his leadership, personnel was trained to obtain doctoral and master’s degrees, she also opposed a number of doctoral dissertations.

S.Sardarova’s scientific activity was highly appreciated. She was awarded Honorary Diplomas of the Presidium of ANAS and the Department of Chemical Sciences.

Sabira Sardarova was one of the scientists who contributed to the formation of the “School of Additive Chemistry” in our country. Her death is a great loss for the Institute of Chemistry of Additives, and we are going to miss her.

On behalf of the staff of the institute, we express our condolences in connection with the death of Sabira Sardarova and wish patience to her family members and relatives. Her memory will forever remain in our hearts.

Allah rehmet elesin !!!
