On January 16, 2024, an educational seminar on the topic “Alkylphenols and detergent-dispersant additives based on them” was held at Academician Ali Guliyev Institute of Chemistry of Additives of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The scientific secretary of the institute, associate professor Mehpara Safarova, making an opening speech, noted that these seminars were of great importance from the point of view of familiarizing researchers, doctoral students, undergraduates and students undergoing practical training at the institute with the results of research conducted in laboratories.

Then Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor Elmira Nagiyeva gave an extensive report on the topic “Alkylphenols and detergent-dispersant additives based on them.” She noted that the laboratory had been operating since 1965, when Academician A.Guliyev Institute of Chemistry of Additives  was created, engaged in the synthesis of detergent-dispersant additives based on alkylphenols containing carboxylate and sulfur (or nitrogen) towards the creation of new modifications of multifunctional additives such as alkylphenolates for motor oils.

Talking about the work done in the laboratory this year, she noted the following: “Currently, laboratory staff is conducting research on the synthesis of new multifunctional additives that can replace commercial additives produced in industry. Optimal conditions have been developed for the production of new alkylphenolate additives containing various heteroatoms with high performance characteristics and high alkalinity (ИХП-114, ИХП-130, AKİ-140, AKİ-150, AKİ-154, AKİ-156, AKİ-162, AKİ- 164, AKİ-210, AKİ-215, AKİ-218, AKİ-219, AKİ223, etc.).

The technology for producing ИХП-114 and ИХП-130 additives was developed at the Sumgayit Additives Plant. It was established that the resulting additives were superior to industrial additives – VNIINP-714, MASK, OLOA-218A, etc. due to their high oxidizing, anti-corrosion and detergent properties. By use of the obtained additives, new motor oils М-8Б, М-10Г2, М-10В2, М-16ИХП-3, М-20В2Ф and others  that met the requirements of modern technology were developed”.

Then  scientific secretary, Ph.D. in Chem.Mehpara Safarova, head of the laboratory, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor Parvin Mamedova, leading researchers – Ph.D. in Chem., Associate Professor Nusrat Aliyev and Malahat Abbasova expressed their opinions and suggestions regarding the speech.
