At Academician A.Guliyev Institute of Chemistry of Additives of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a meeting of the Academic Council was held in a broad composition.

The issue on the agenda was related to the preliminary discussion of the dissertation work of a researcher at the laboratory of the Institute “Organic compounds with tribological properties”, former doctoral student Gunay Geray gizi Mustafayeva on the topic “Synthesis of new organic substances based on thiocarboxylic and thiocyanic acids, glycerol derivatives and research as an additive to lubricating oils”  to award her Ph.D. in Chemistry.

During the discussion chaired by Professor Parvin Mammadova, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, head of the laboratory, applicant G. Mustafayeva explained the important scientific results she obtained on this topic, the fundamental scientific and applied significance of 29 new substances synthesized by her. As a result of her research in a little-studied area of  organic chemistry she  provided extensive information and answered numerous questions regarding the physico-chemical properties of dithiols, detailed studies carried out by her in the field of studying their lubricating properties and exploring them as additives.

G.Mustafayeva noted that 35 scientific works related to important scientific, theoretical and practical results obtained in the course of research conducted on the topic of the dissertation were published, 6 of them in foreign journals, the rest in republican journals, articles, conference materials and 5 patents.

During the discussion, the reviewers – Ph.D. S.Osmanova and Ph.D. M.Huseynova emphasized the relevance, modernity and importance of the work, expressed their comments and suggestions on the topic.

Head of the laboratory where the applicant works, Doctor of Chemical Sciences. A.Mammadova and leading researcher Ph.D. N.Novotorjina, giving information about the personal qualities of G.Mustafayeva, noted that she was very hardworking and talented researcher, and the level of knowledge she demonstrated allowed  her to receive an appropriate scientific degree.

Members of the Academic Council M.Safarova, H.Javadova, P. Mammadova, H.Efendiyeva and J.Hamidova expressed their opinions and recommendations on the dissertation and report.
