Academician Ali Guliyev Institute of Chemistry of Additives of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan hosted an award ceremony for the winners of the “Best Scientific Report” competition among young scientists and specialists, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the national leader Heydar Aliyev, organized by the Territorial Organization of the New Azerbaijan Party together with the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists.
First, flowers were laid in front of the “Heydar Aliyev Corner” in the foyer of the institute. Then the State Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played, and after a moment of silence, the memory of the Great Leader and our martyrs who died for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was honored, the participants of the event watched a short film about the life and work of the national leader.
The General Director of the Institute of Chemistry of Additives Academician Vagif Farzaliyev made an opening speech at the event. He spoke about how the National Leader, during his leadership of the republic in the days of the former USSR, had brought our republic out of stagnation and included it in the ranks of the advanced republics. The academician said that during the second reign of the historical figure, our country had been saved from the threat of losing its independence again in the early 90s, got rid of the political and economic crisis in which it fell: “In 1993, Great Leader Heydar Aliyev returned to power in the most difficult time of our republic, at the insistence of the people, and led the independent, but fragile state from decline to progress, and at the same time socio-political stability was established in the country, under which economic development and army building began. Later, his worthy follower, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, at the cost of the lives of our martyrs and veterans of the 44-day Patriotic War, put an end to the Armenian occupation and gave our people the joy of victory.”
He said that national leader Heydar Aliyev had paid great attention to all spheres of the country’s life, including science, education and culture, and provided great support to young people in all areas. As a result, the scientific, social and political activity of young people has increased in recent years.
Then the participant of the event chairman of the Youth Union of the New Azerbaijan Party, Bakhtiyar Islamov said: “It was a great pride that such an outstanding statesman and world-class historical figure as Great Leader Heydar Aliyev fell to the lot of the Azerbaijani people. Heydar Aliyev’s foreign policy was aimed at preserving independent Azerbaijan, its comprehensive development, solving our problems, achieving a worthy place for our people in the community of peoples of the world”.
He noted that the basis of the youth policy in Azerbaijan had been laid by the national leader Heydar Aliyev: “The great leader set a number of important tasks for the youth of Azerbaijan. These responsibilities play a pivotal role in shaping our healthy youth today. The constant attention of President Ilham Aliyev to the activities of young people, the ongoing state programs, the created infrastructure speaks of the sensitive attitude of the head of state to young people. Of course, in order to deserve such high attention, the youth of Azerbaijan must further expand their activities, think about the interests of the country at every step, and reflect the principles of statehood at the highest level in their activities. It is a civic responsibility and duty.”
Then a member of the Board of the NAP, Executive Director of the Institute of Chemistry of Additives, Doctor of Chemical Sciences Afsun Sujayev noted that thanks to national leader Heydar Aliyev’s incomparable services to the Motherland and people his 100th anniversary of the birth will be celebrated everywhere in our country and beyond. He spoke about the great, meaningful and honorable life path of Heydar Aliyev, about the feelings of affection and fanaticism for his native people in his activities.
A. Sujayev said that such competitions, held to encourage young scientists and specialists working at the institute for high-level scientific research, had become traditional for 10 years and were annually timed to coincide with the birthday of the national leader. He said that such competitions played an important role in acquiring the skills of writing scientific reports and articles by young researchers.
Then, the chairman of the Young Scientist and Specialist Council of the institute, Gunay Ismayilova, spoke and said that criteria such as relevance of the topic, scientific and practicality of the obtained results, the level of answering the questions of the speaker and scientific works published on the topic had been taken into account during the selection of candidates. She emphasized that the expert evaluation had been carried out transparently during the selection of the winners of the “Best scientific report” competition.
Thus, according to the decision of the Commission of Experts, Nargiz Majidi, junior researcher of the institute, first-year doctoral student, won the first, Lala Aliyeva, junior researcher, second-year doctoral student, second, and Mirali Isakov, junior researcher, won the third places and student Sabah group of the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, who completed production experience at the institute Chinara Zayidova was awarded a certificate.
Academician Vagif Farzaliyev, Director General of the Institute, and Bakhtiyar Islamov, Chairman of YAP Youth Union, presented diplomas and flowers to the winners.
