By decree of national leader Heydar Aliyev, February 26, 1992 was declared the day of “Khojaly genocide – Day of National Mourning.”
On February 23, 2024, at the Institute of Chemistry of Additives of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, with the assistance of the Trade Union Organization, the NAP Territorial Organization, the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists, and the Women’s Council, an event dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of the “Khojaly genocide” was held.
The meeting began with a minute of silence in memory of the victims and martyrs of the Khojaly genocide. Opening the event with an introductory speech, the Chairman of the Trade Union Organization of the Institute, Doctor of Philology, Associate Professor Elkhan Isakov emphasized that the Khojaly tragedy was the most terrible tragedy of the twentieth century, targeting Khojaly, the Armenians, on the one hand, wanted to eliminate a strategically important obstacle, on the other hand, the talk was about erasing Khojaly from the face of the earth once and for all. Armenian chauvinists and ideologists also pursued a far-reaching goal, committing the Khojaly genocide, which had no analogues in world history in its scale and horrors. Their main goal was to seize Nagorno-Karabakh and other Azerbaijani lands, depriving our people of the resolve to fight for independence and territorial integrity.
He said that currently, under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, recognition of the Khojaly genocide in the world is one of the main directions of our country’s foreign policy. As a result of the successful foreign policy of the Azerbaijani state, countries around the world have already expressed their opinions on the genocide committed by the Armenians and strongly condemned the massacre committed in Khojaly.
Then, leading researcher Nusrat Aliyev and senior researcher Ingilab Ismayilov spoke about the Khojaly tragedy and noted that the hated Armenians committed crimes unprecedented in history, using the most brutal methods of violence against our people. They noted the glorious victory of the Azerbaijan Army during the 44-day Patriotic War and the anti-terrorist operation that lasted 23 hours and 47 minutes, the growth of economic power, military potential and prestige of our country in the international world, the comprehensive development of our country, avenging those who sacrificed their lives as a result of Armenian vandalism.
