Elmira Nagiyeva, senior researcher of the laboratory “Multifunctional additives for motor oils” of acad.A.Guliyev Institute of Chemistry of Additives (ICA) of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) is 75 years old.
Elmira Ali qizi Nagiyeva was born in 1946 in Baku in an intelligent family. She graduated from the evening department of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Azerbaijan State University named after S.M.Kirov (now BSU). While being a student, in 1966 she was admitted to the Institute of Chemical Problems of ANAS as a laboratory assistant. From 1966 to 2008, she worked as a laboratory assistant, technician, senior technician, engineer, junior researcher, senior researcher, leading researcher, and since 2009 as a senior researcher.
In 1972 she entered the Department of the postgraduate studies of the ICA of ANAS. In 1979 she defended her dissertation on the topic “Synthesis of nitrogen- and sulfur-containing derivatives of succinic acid and their study as an additive to lubricants”, specializing in “Petrochemistry”. In 2001 she defended her doctoral dissertation on “Low-ash and ashless additives based on alkylphenols and amines for mineral and synthetic oils” and received a Ph.D. in technical sciences, and in 1985 she received the title of senior research fellow.
Nagieva is a hardworking intellectual with a long career as a senior research fellow. She began her effective scientific activity in the laboratory “Multifunctional additives for motor oils” of the ICA of ANAS. The main direction of Elmira Nagieva’s scientific activity is the synthesis, research and development of new motor oils based on various heteroatomic and functional groups, as well as mineral and high-temperature synthetic oils. She conducts systematic fundamental research in the field of synthesis of new additives, studying the effect of their composition and structure on functional efficiency. A number of additives were created with her direct participation and with their use mineral and synthetic motor oils were developed.
She is the author of about 200 scientific papers, including 44 author certificates and patents. More than 40 of her works have been published abroad.
