Important results of the research conducted by scientists from Academician Ali Guliyev Institute of Chemistry of Additives of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan together with colleagues from Ataturk and Bartin Universities of Turkey within the framework of international scientific cooperation on the topic “Search for enzyme-isoenzyme inhibitors with the effect of a potential drug against diabetes” were published as another article in the journal “Journal of the Indian Chemical Society” of the world-famous Elsevier Publishing House with an impact factor of 3.2 in the Web of Science database in the Q2 category (Kamala Askarova, Sevgili Mammadova, Vagif Farzaliyev, Afsun Sujayev, Nastaran Sadegyan, Parham Taslimi, Namik Kilinc, Musa Akkusha, Arslan Recep Sahin, Saleh Alvasel, Ilhami Gulcin, Novel Regioselective “Sulfamidomethylation of phenols: a study of the synthesis, properties, biological activity and molecular docking, 2024, https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jics.2024.101318).

The institute reported that novel regioselective sulfonamide compounds were synthesized through detailed studies. Among them, the biological activities of four representatives of regioselective sulfonamide compounds with pharmacophore groups were studied in detail. The compounds used in this study demonstrated effective inhibitory properties against α-amylase, AR, and α-glycosidase enzymes and could potentially be potent inhibitors of these enzymes. In conclusion, multiple analyses have established that regioselective sulfonamide compounds may be useful in the treatment or prevention of diabetes complications.
