Academician Ali Guliyev Institute of Chemistry of Additives of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences worked in several directions during a special quarantine regime in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. According to the director of the institute, academician Vagif Farzaliyev, distance learning for first-year students will continue until June 15, after which they will pass exams in the traditional format at the institute: “At the same time, distance scientific and methodological consultations of doctoral students and undergraduates with scientific supervisors are continuing.”
Farzaliyev noted that due to the weakening of the quarantine regime, the institute has been operating in real mode since May 18, although there are some restrictions on the number of employees: “Therefore, the institute’s employees, who are at a particular risk and suffer from chronic diseases, continue to collect, analyze and summarize information in the areas of their research via the Internet, as well as write scientific articles and submit them for publication.
The director of the institute said that researchers regularly participate in online seminars, video conferences, and also prepare and publish articles in the Azerbaijani language for Wikipedia: “To maintain the required level of international relations, online discussions are organized at a high level. The activities of the scientists of the institute as experts (reviewers) of a number of prestigious international journals can be noted. Also, young scientists and specialists of the institute took part in the national videoconferences “Peace and youth in new conditions” and “Heydar Aliyev – the architect of modern Azerbaijani statehood”.
Farzaliyev noted that both the institute’s management and ordinary employees regularly give interviews for electronic media, and the institute’s official website continues to work online.
