Important scientific results were obtained in the framework of joint international research by scientists from Academician A.Guliyev Institute of Chemistry of Additives of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan and Academician A.Favorsky Irkutsk Institute of Chemistry of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. According to the institute, the physiological activity of new substances synthesized by scientists of the laboratory “Some heterocyclic compounds” together with Turkish colleagues has been studied in detail. In particular, it has been shown that 6 compounds containing nitrogen, phosphorus, selenium and sulfur, which have therapeutic potential, have strong inhibitory activity against metabolic enzymes. There is a confidence  that these results could help develop new drugs for the treatment of several global diseases, including glaucoma, Alzheimer’s and diabetes. These important scientific results have already been published as an article in the authoritative international journal Bioorganic Chemistry (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.bioorg.2020.104171).

The article is devoted to new approaches to the synthesis of new compounds containing nitrogen, phosphorus, selenium and sulfur, and to the assessment of their inhibitory properties on enzymes and isozymes.

It should be noted that the impact factor of one of the most prestigious journals of the world famous Elsevier publishing house, Bioorganic Chemistry, which is included in the Web of Science database, is 4.831. Specializing in biochemistry, pharmacology, medicine and molecular biology, this journal regularly publishes important results from interdisciplinary research in medicine, chemistry and biology.
