A commemorative event dedicated to March 31, the Day of the Azerbaijani Genocide, was held at academician Ali Guliyev Institute of Chemistry of Additives of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The event participants observed a minute of silence in memory of the victims of genocide and heroes of the Patriotic War.
At the memorable event, the chairman of the Trade Union Organization of the institute, Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry, Associate Professor Elkhan Isakov made a wide presentation. He noted: “During the March genocide, massacres were committed in Baku, Guba, Karabakh, Shamakhi, Kurdamir, Goychay, Khachmaz and Lankaran, the exact number of those killed is unknown. As a result of the two-century genocide of Azerbaijanis, hundreds of settlements were destroyed and thousands of Azerbaijanis were brutally killed in a large-scale bloody action. Thousands of people have been forced to flee their villages as a result of successive ethnic cleansing, genocide and Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan over the years. On March 26, 1998, national leader Heydar Aliyev signed a decree recognizing March 31 as the Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis. In 2013, by decision of President Ilham Aliyev, the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex was created in memory of those killed in the genocide.”

Then Professor Parvin Mammadova and leading researcher Nusrat Aliyev spoke about the cruelty and scale of the March genocide of 1918, which became the bloodiest tragedy not only in the history of Azerbaijan, but also in the history of mankind. Thus, they committed crimes unprecedented in history. They celebrated the glorious victory of the Azerbaijan Army during the 44-day Patriotic War and the Anti-Terrorist Operation, which lasted 23 hours and 47 minutes. They also emphasized that the economic power, military potential and reputation of our country had increased in the international world, and the country had achieved comprehensive development.
